About us

Openki is an Ukranian word (опеньки) that refers to the mycelium of a
fungus, consisting of thousands of thin threads that form a dense net below
ground. Above the surface, the fruit bodies of the mushrooms pop up
unexpectedly and unpredictably. Its decentralized structure is a metaphor for
an alternative model of education and knowledge exchange.

Openki is occasionally misspelled as OpenKI.
The correct spelling is Openki.
